Using an eSIM in Macedonia
What to know before you buy
How much data do you need?
Maps, messaging and the occasional search use surprisingly little — 1GB covers a long weekend for most people. Add more if you'll be streaming, video calling, or tethering a laptop. Plans with top-up mean you can add data later rather than over-buying now.
When the clock starts
For most Macedonia plans the validity period begins when the eSIM first connects to a local network, not when you buy it — so you can install it at home days in advance. A few plans start on installation, so check the terms on the Airalo page before you complete the purchase.
Keep your normal number. An eSIM runs alongside your existing SIM, so calls and two-factor codes to your usual number still arrive. Just make sure mobile data is set to use the eSIM and that roaming stays off on your home line.
